It has been a couple of weeks since I last made an entry to my blog. I have been very busy with the wet cool spring and the delayed field work but we also had a wedding on the 30th of April and also my son graduated from high school on the 6th of May. Needless to say it has been a busy, busy last couple of months. This last week I have been getting ready to head south to Kingfisher Oklahoma. I plan to leave Tuesday afternoon. I usually go to Walters Oklahoma to start harvest but the drought ruin their crop. Kingfisher was hurt pretty bad by the drought but do have some wheat to cut. I w...

Hello Again! We had a late spring snow storm this weekend. We had a nice inch or two of rain then a good six inches of wet snow on top of that. It is really sloppy everywhere. I didn't push any snow away Saturday morning because it was going to warm up in the afternoon and welt so I spent the morning reading a book I heard about. I am not much of a reader. Markets and weather off the internet: I'll read an obituary and maybe the local sports page in the newspaper and that’s about the extent of it. Reading is something I do not have a lot of patience's for. It has to really be interes...

Hello again! I am sitting in my recliner with my leg in the air this morning. Last Wednesday night, I ended up in surgery in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton South Dakota. I was putting new disc blades on front gangs of my John Deere 630 disc. I needed to grind the nuts on the gang bolts smooth to get an impact socket on to get them loose. I was grinding on the last nut when the grinder wheel exploded and went into the back of my leg. I have heard of those grinding wheels doing that but have never seen it happen until now. Believe me it doesn't take long. I was so lucky that it did...

Hello All! Last week I drove almost 3000 miles through the wheat country talking to my customers. I started in Greeley Co. and headed to Norton Kansas, and then down threw Pratt and Great Bend, then over to Caldwell Kansas. I then headed south to Medford, Kingfisher, and Walters Oklahoma. The wheat look's the best from Pratt Kansas to Kingfisher Oklahoma. They had good moisture last fall and some nice snows threw the winter to get it established, and if they get spring rains there crop will be good this year. Greeley CO. and Walters OK. is a very different story. They have not had any...

Hello again everyone! I hope all is going well for everyone; I have been busy hauling grain for the last couple of weeks. I got into a conversation the other day while I was waiting in line to unload at an ethanol plant. This gentleman was an older truck driver and we talked about everything from the weather to apple trees and of course the government. The renewable fuels subsidies came up, and he didn't think that the ethanol industry should get any more subsidies then the oil companies do. That kind of hit a nerve with me, in fact I think you could take the KIND OF out of the sentence. ...

Having grown up on a large dry land farm in central montana I have sat many hours on 8820s and 9600s. I must say that I am very jealous!! Waiting patiently for the next blog. ~ Rod and Darci~
